Finance Consultant - Audit & Compliance

POSITION OVERVIEW─────────────────Mid-level accounting professional responsible for financial reporting, tax compliance, audit coordination, and internal controls across multiple client/corporate accounts. Role bridges accounting operations with audit/compliance frameworks.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-Negotiable)──────────────────────────────────────FINANCIAL REPORTING & ACCOUNTING• Prepare and review monthly/annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in compliance with IFRS/NFRS accounting standards• Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, deferrals, reversals, expense allocations)• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations (AR, AP, GL)• Support month-end and year-end closing processes• Maintain accurate general ledger and subsidiary accounts• Prepare financial analysis and variance reporting for management reviewTAX & STATUTORY COMPLIANCE• Prepare and file VAT returns (monthly/quarterly compliance)• Calculate and file TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) returns• Prepare income tax returns (corporate and individual)• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and filing deadlines• Support tax audit and revenue authority inquiries• Maintain tax documentation and supporting schedulesAUDIT & INTERNAL CONTROLS• Support external audit engagements (prepare audit schedules, coordinate documentation)• Perform internal audits and control testing• Assess and document internal control weaknesses and recommend improvements• Support compliance testing across accounting processes• Prepare audit working papers and management responses• Maintain audit trail documentationOPERATIONAL ACCOUNTING• Process and reconcile accounts payable (vendor payments, invoice verification)• Manage accounts receivable (customer invoicing, follow-up, collection)• Support payroll processing and tax withholding compliance• Inventory reconciliation and verification• Procurement review and supplier evaluation• Support daily cash management and bank facility coordinationEXPERIENCE REQUIRED───────────────────MINIMUM (Mandatory):• 2+ years in accounting, finance, or audit roles• Hands-on experience with financial statement preparation• Experience with tax compliance (VAT, TDS, income tax)• Bank reconciliation and month-end closing experience• Familiarity with at least one accounting software (Tally, Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, SAP)PREFERRED • 3+ years total accounting/finance/audit experience• 1.5-2+ years of audit/assurance work (shows discipline, standards knowledge)• ACCA Affiliate/Qualified or CA credentials (or pursuing)• Bachelor's degree with Master's (MBA, MBS, MA Economics)• Multi-sector audit experience (banks, manufacturing, NGOs, energy)• International accounting exposure (GAAP, IFRS, FRS 102/105)• Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reconciliation templates)• Experience with 2+ accounting software platformsEDUCATION REQUIRED──────────────────• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Studies, Commerce (BBS, BBA, B.Com, BCom)STRONGLY PREFERRED:• ACCA (Affiliate minimum, Qualified preferred)• Chartered Accountancy (CA Foundation+) - ICAN, ICAI, or equivalent• MBA Finance or MBSTECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED─────────────────────────MANDATORY:• Microsoft Excel (Intermediate minimum: formulas, reconciliation schedules, analysis)• ONE accounting software: Tally, Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, SAP, NetSuite, Swastik, etc.PREFERRED:• Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, conditional formatting)• Cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks Online)• ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, Odoo)• Power BI or financial dashboarding tools• QuickBooks or Tally proficiency SOFT SKILLS───────────• English language fluency (written & verbal) - MANDATORY for team communication• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial records• Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills• Communication with clients and senior management• Ability to work independently and in teams• Commitment to deadlines and compliance requirementsRED FLAGS (Auto-Disqualify)────────────────────────────❌ Less than 2 years accounting/finance experience❌ Zero hands-on accounting competency (P&L prep, bank recon, tax filing)❌ No English language proficiency❌ No accounting software experienceNOT REQUIRED:• Energy/renewable sector specifically (nice-to-have, not mandatory)• EV charging industry backgroundINTERNATIONAL STANDARDS (Valued)─────────────────────────────────PREFERRED:• GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles - US)• IFRS/IAS standards• FRS 102 or FRS 105 (UK small company/micro-entity standards)• Demonstrates global accounting knowledgeNOT REQUIRED:• Nepal-specific accounting mandatory, but Nepal regulatory knowledge (VAT, TDS, NRB) is essential once hired═════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════Location: Kathmandu, NepalExperience Required: 2-3+ yearsCertifications: ACCA/CA preferred (pursuing acceptable)═════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
