Lead Japanese Language Curriculum Designer & Pedagogical Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Lead Japanese Language Curriculum Designer & Pedagogical Specialist to develop, structure, and calibrate Japanese language learning programs within an AI-powered learning and assessment platform.The role will be responsible for designing curricula aligned with JLPT N5–N2, JFT-Basic, NAT-TEST, SSW, and TITP frameworks, developing adaptive assessments, creating workplace-focused Japanese learning content, and supporting the calibration of AI-based conversational, voice, and assessment systems.The ideal candidate will have strong Japanese language expertise, curriculum development experience, knowledge of Japanese workplace culture, and an understanding of AI-powered EdTech platforms.Key Responsibilities1. Curriculum Design & DevelopmentDesign structured Japanese language curricula aligned with JLPT N5–N2, JFT-Basic, and NAT-TEST standards.Develop grammar, Kanji, vocabulary, reading, listening, speaking, and conversational learning pathways.Create modular lesson plans and learning materials.Develop industry-specific Japanese modules for:IT & EngineeringCaregivingHospitalityConstructionGeneral IndustryIntegrate Keigo, workplace etiquette, business communication, and Japanese work culture into learning materials.Develop progression pathways from beginner level to job-ready conversational proficiency.2. Assessment & Placement TestingDesign adaptive Japanese language placement tests.Develop question banks covering grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and situational conversations.Create assessment rubrics for reading, listening, grammar, and speaking.Ensure assessments accurately evaluate learners' Japanese proficiency.3. AI & EdTech Content CalibrationDesign and review conversational prompts for AI-powered Japanese learning systems.Ensure AI-generated conversations use natural and contextually appropriate Japanese.Review AI responses for grammar, vocabulary, tone, and cultural appropriateness.Support calibration of AI conversational agents and language-learning workflows.Develop feedback logic for common grammar and pronunciation errors among Nepali and English-speaking learners.4. Voice & Pronunciation Quality AssuranceReview Japanese dialogue scripts for AI voice systems.Support testing of Text-to-Speech (TTS) and Speech-to-Text (STT) systems.Evaluate pronunciation, pitch accent, and naturalness of Japanese speech.Identify and correct pronunciation-related issues in learning content.5. Localization & Quality AssuranceReview Japanese, English, and Nepali learning content and platform interfaces.Audit UI labels, instructions, notifications, and error messages for linguistic accuracy.Conduct end-to-end testing of Japanese conversational scenarios and roleplays.Ensure learning materials are culturally appropriate and relevant to Nepali learners.6. SSW & TITP Framework AlignmentDevelop learning content relevant to Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) and Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) pathways.Incorporate Japanese workplace communication, professional etiquette, and industry-specific terminology.Ensure curriculum content reflects practical Japanese workplace requirements.Required QualificationsJLPT N1 certification or native-level Japanese proficiency.Bachelor's or Master's degree in:Japanese LanguageLinguisticsEducationPedagogyor a related field.Minimum 5+ years of experience teaching Japanese and/or developing Japanese language curricula.Experience with JLPT N5–N2, JFT-Basic, or NAT-TEST preparation.At least 2–3 years of educational or professional experience in Japan.Strong understanding of Japanese workplace culture, including Keigo and Hou-Ren-Sou.Strong curriculum development and instructional design skills.
